Few days ago, I wanted to put a logo to EAGLE schematic.

There are couple of ways to add image to EAGLE PCB.  You could use Bitmap to Eagle converter tool or you could use the import_bmp.ulp.
But, there is limited online tutorial or tips on how to import image to schematic.
I experimented the import_bmp.ulp a little bit, and I’d like to share my technique.

In this video, I show how to import a Creative Commons license logo as a device in a Eagle library which can then be added into schematics as a part. Now, you can add any image to schematics. Personal artwork, company logo, license, or even your photo.

Data logging using ez430-Chronos watch (Part 3: svn external)

Few people had problems when trying to combine the zedgraph and ez430chronosnet libraries into the Chronoswatch Downloader project.

I just committed the Visual Studio Solution files into the Sourceforge directory and added the svn:external properties to automatically download the zedgraph and ez430chronosnet from different repository addresses.

So, thanks to svn:external property, now if you do SVN export from
it will also automatically export the zedgraph and ez430chronosnet.

Hope that you should be able to open the solutions file in Visual Studio and do Build without any problem.

ez430 chronos – Turn on display using accelerometer

October 24, 2010 at 9:58 pm | Posted in ez430 chronos, idea, MSP430, My Projects | 5 Comments

This is my first attempt creating a simple application for the ez430 Chronos watch.
I was trying to find out how to use the provided sample codes from TI using the Code Composer.

So, I had a simple idea to turn on/off the display depending on the orientation of the watch using the built-in accelerometer.
This application is a modification of the sportwatch sample application.

I know, I know. This is not so power efficient.
Look at the Estimated Battery Life from TI manual above, whoa… I would drain the battery in one and half months for continuous acceleration measurement. This simple application of mine is simply not practical using this watch.
But hey…, the idea is simple and it is a start to develop more complex application.

Reuse Pizza Hut heat indicator

May 2, 2008 at 7:58 pm | Posted in idea | 1 Comment

In Sydney, if you order a pizza from Pizza Hut these days, you will notice that there is a simple heat sensor sticker. Basically, if it is hot, the sticker would display “HOT”. Otherwise, it would turn black.

I peeled the sticker off and was wondering
“hmmm, where should I stick it on?”

I remember that every morning I have to touch the kettle to find out if the water is already hot or not. By sticking the sticker on the kettle, I can now have instant visual feedback.

Useful, huh? Hmm… What else can I stick these Pizza Hut stickers to?
Any ideas anyone?
