I was so excited when receiving the TI ez430 chronos watch.
In this video, I like to share the unboxing and demonstrate the default firmware.

Hope you enjoy the video.

  1. Looking forward to your projects.🙂

  2. Very nice projects.

    I have few questions:

Does this watch has a distance function in factory setting or not?

I need to measure distance traveled during the soccer game with lot of sprints starts and stops? Is source code of the firmware included or not ?

How would I go to detect steps from accelerometer data?

Any inputs is this feasible and any ideas how should I approach the problem.

    Thanx.

    • Hi Ixify,

There is no distance function in factory setting.
I do not think you can easily convert the accelerometer data into steps with good accuracy.

You could estimate the energy expenditure derived from the triaxial accelerometer data. But since the watch is worn on the wrist, the accuracy will not be great either.
It is probably better to get triaxial accelerometer that is worn around the waist, which is the optimal location for the body’s center of gravity.

      Good luck!
